Country Music Jam Session Pocahontas Community Center 1st and 3rd Fridays A country music jam sessions is set for the first and third Fridays of each month at the Pocahontas Community Center, 1441 Pocahontas Road, Morrison. 80 Portraits of Cannon County Cannon Hall May - October Framed vintage family photos from the breadth of Cannon County families will be on display in Cannon Hall beginning in May 2015 and will conclude with an old fashioned "family reunion" reception in October 2015. Cannon Hall is a 2,600 square foot exhibition and event space located inside The Arts Center at 1424 John Bragg Highway, Woodbury.. We display works from our collection as well as loaned works from private collections and public institutions. Admission to Cannon Hall is free. *** First United Methodist Church Woodbury Annual Ham Breakfasat Saturday, Oct. 3 6-10 a.m. The Annual Country Ham Breakfast at First UMC Woodbury (502 W. High St. Woodbury. Always the first Saturday of October, this year that day comes on Oct.3 from 6 - 10 a.m. Country Ham, sausage, Biscuits, gravy, eggs, grits, juice, coffee, all for $10. All proceeds go toward Mission projects. Bonus this year: A youth sponsored bake sale with proceeds going to the Youth Fund. Tickets will be available at the door.

The Short Mountain Haunted Woods Oct. 16-17, 23-24 and 30 Held at Short Mountain Distillery with proceeds benefiting Short Mountain Fire Department and the Cannon County Rescue Squad. Book Battle Reading Challenge Thorough Oct. 16 The Cannon County Library System announces the 2nd Annual Book Batt le Reading Challenge. The competition pits the six county elementary schools against each other in a friendly, educational competition to see which school can read the most books. The program aims at promoting literacy in Cannon County and encouraging students to check out what their local library has to off er them. The program begins Sept. 14 and will end on Oct. 16. The results are tallied by taking the total number of books read by each school and dividing it by the total number of students, thereby making the program fair. Prizes include a pizza party sponsored by the Cannon County Library System for the class in the winning school that reads the most books and trophies for the winning and runner up schools. Cannon Country Christmas Friday, Nov. 20 & Saturday, Nov. 21 A big weekend is planned in Woodbury as the Cannon County Country Christmas Merchants Open House. The event opens Friday, Nov. 20 as Santa Claus rides onto the Square in a mule wagon. Downtown stores and shops will be in full holiday finery with special treats for visitors.
