*** Spring Veggies at the Cannon County Farmers Market The weather has put us a little behind, but the Market producers are starting to make their goodies available. Carmen and Jerry Smithson will be at the Market on Saturday with cabbage, onions, lettuce, radishes and potatoes. We plan to have the Market up and running with multiple producers the first Saturday in July. The Cannon County Farmers Market is located at the Cannon County Arts Center every Saturday beginning at 6 a.m. Our producers are proud to offer locally grown farm fresh produce. Most Saturdays the market is open until noon or until the farm fresh fruits and vegetables have been sold. Harris and Rob Hooper will speak on the Battle of Vaught Hill, which took place at Milton, TN during the Civil War.
*** American Legion Post 279 Thursday, June 19 5:45 p.m. The Hilton Stone American Legion Post 279 will meet on Thursday, June 19, 2014; at 5:45pm for dinner and 6:30pm for our regular meeting, at the Senior Citizens Center in Woodbury. Be sure to come early and see one of the ladies of Auxiliary Unit 279 to get your copy of the "Patriotic Cookbook", with many of the ole timers' secret recipes. Do you remember the Peanut Butter Bars when you where in Woodbury High School? Do you remember WT McBroom's famous brownies, and the Groovey Butter Bars? And the old fashion Popcorn Balls? Well they are in there. Special Asian and German recipes, and most of all family favorites from the past are also included.

*** National Spotted Saddle Horse Association Show Saturday, June 21 Come one, come all, to the Cannon County Fairgrounds in Woodbury, Tennessee, on June 21, 2014 at 6:00 PM. This Horse Show is sponsored by, "Friends of After School Kids Program.” There will be lots of good food, lots of competition, and lots of fun. Come on out and support the kids of Cannon County.
