Herb Alsup Roast and Dinner, Thursday, April 25
Well-known preacher Herb Alsup is receiving the dubious honor of being roasted for the benefit of Adams Memorial Library at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 25 in Fellowship Hall of Woodbury Church of Christ. Bro. Herb will be "roasted" by Dr. Billy Smith, Mike Corley, Tim Knox and Steve Smith. Reservations should be made by April 22 and are $30 per person. Cruis'in on the Square, Saturday, April 27
Cruis'in on the Square kicks off in Woodbury from 4 to 7:30 p.m. All cars, trucks and motorcycles are welcome. The shinier the better. This event is held every fourth Saturday April through October. Spotted Saddle Horse Show, Saturday, April 27
Auburntown Beta Club and the National Spotted Saddle Horse Association will host a Spotted Saddle Horse Show at the horse arena at Woodbury's fairgrounds. Call 615-594-9301 for more info.

Clear Fork United Methodist, Saturday, April 27
Clear Fork United Methodist Church in Gassaway is holding a catfish and chicken tenders supper with choice of pinto beans, white or green beans, hush puppies, slaw, french fries, desert and drink from 4 to 8 p.m.

Ultimate Weight Loss Challenge Kick-Off Monday, April 29
Stones River Hospital is sponsoring The Ultimate Weight Loss Challenge Kick-Off Monday, April 29 from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 at the hospital. Only 90 days to the body you want. Entry fee is $10 per person or $35 team (up to 5 people). Lose the weight--Win the cash!


Relay for Life, Friday, May 3
The American Cancer Society Relay for Life at Dillon Park in Woodbury. Includes a survivor walk, entertainment, food and special events. Help fund cancer research by participating. Call 563-2538 or 542-6970 for info.

SAVE Fest, Saturday,
May 4
The all-day event includes music, booths, food, a cake-walk, face painting, cornhole contests and more. SAVE Fest is located on the Woodbury Courthouse Square. Festivities begin at 10 a.m. and continue through 9 p.m. including a meet and greet with Jessie Whitley, the son of the late, great Keith Whitley.

Sports Hall of Fame Banquet, Thursday, May 9
MTSU basketball coach Kermit Davis is guest speaker for the third annual banquet at 6 p.m. at Robert A. Harris gymnasium. The meal will be catered by Prater’s Barbecue. Tickets are $15 and available at The Cannon Courier.

Down on the Farm Day, Friday, May 10
Down on the Farm Day, sponsored by the UT Extension Office, Farm Bureau and the Farmers Co-op, at the Pemberton Memorial Arena at Woodbury’s fairgrounds. It’s a learning experience for fourth graders regarding agriculture, forestry, livestock and more. For information, contact the extension office at 615-563-2554.

Spring Fling on the Square, Friday, May 10, Saturday, May 11
Downtown Woodbury businesses are planning a series of discounts, door prizes and special Mother’s Day deals on Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11. Participating retailers include Jennings Jewelers, Antiques and More, Antiques on the Square, Old Feed Store Antique Mall, Off the Hanger Consignment, Faith and Hope Consignment, Lelands Home Decore, Bean Patch, Briar Rose Florist and Paul Reed Furniture. You can get 10 percent off at these restaurants with a receipt dated May 10 or 11 from downtown businesses at Lion’s Den Pizza, the Gathering Place Cafe and Joe’s Place.

One Day Mule Show, Saturday, May 11
The biggest one day mule show in the southeast will be presented by the Middle Tennessee Mule Skinners Association at the Pemberton Memorial Area at the fairgrounds. Good Ole Days, Friday and Saturday, May 17 and May 18
Good Ole Days and Cannon Ball Events will be held on the Square in Woodbury. Enjoy entertainment, food, pageants, baby shows, dog show, a 5K run, vendors, a parade, craft booths and more. Vendors can contact Connie Rigsby at 615-563-5304.

Run United 5K, Saturday, May 18
The 2013 Run United 5k hosted by The Avenue Murfreesboro to benefit United Way is set for May 18, 2013 at 7 a.m.. Early registration is $30 per person and ends May 1, 2013. After May 1, registration is $35 a person and participants will not receive a t-shirt. Registration is available at www.active.com. Teams of 10 can register for the 5k for $250 ($25 per person) by contacting United Way at 615-893-7303.
This year’s event will include a one mile fun run. Registration for the fun run is $15, and those registered after May 1, 2013 will not receive a t-shirt.
The event will also include a kid’s station with entertainment for children located in The Avenue’s central park area before and during the race.
The proceeds from the race will be invested into the local community through the United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties.

Memorial Day Trail Ride, Saturday, May 25-27
Sponsored by the Cannon County Walking Horse Association, the ride leaves the fair grounds in Woodbury at 11 a.m. and continues to the campgrounds on Short Mountain. Enjoy trail riding, camping, a horse show, dancing and more. Visit the website:
