Teams set for Walk Across Tennessee

The 2014 Cannon County Walk Across Tennessee is underway with sixteen teams participating. This five week challenge gets people moving and walking is one of the easiest ways to be physically active. You can do it almost anywhere and at any time. Walking is also inexpensive. All you need it a comfortable pair of shoes. Just one hour a day of walking is all you need to do.

Teams this year are:

Aero Divas - Julia B. McCarty, Lesa Bont, Jackie Hernandez, Lisa Reaney, and Ja'Monta Smith;
Angel's of the Hatfields and McCoys - Angel Neall, Terri McCoy, Missy Hatfield, C.J. Hatfield, and Walker Hatfield;
Bankin' On It - Hollie Parker, Mindy Gunter, Cynthia Kodavanti, Chloe Parker, and Liz Higginbotham;
B.O.E. Steppers - Jackie Martin, Douglas Jennings, Darlene Witty, and Marcia Melton;

Dispatching Mayhem - Lizabeth Stluka, Kimberly Abercrombie, Michael Hollandsworth, Eric Fisk, Dek Sissom, Samantha Hollandsworth, and Christie Fisk;

Happy Feet - Kathy Mullins, Kristi Wilson, Terry Burks, Chassity Burks, and Randy Vance;

High Steppers - Reba Denny McGee, Faye Smithson, Sue Beth Maxwell, Sarah Nokes, and Virginia Rogers;

Holey Walkamolies - Britan Huddleston, Josie Sissom, Kathy Gannon, Melissa Anderson, and Larissa Phillips;

Poole's Fools for Fitness - Joe Waldrum, Kendell Poole, Kevin Hayer, Megan Buell, and Sandi Smith;

TN Travelers - Kathy Simon, Margaret Vassar, Faye Naylor, John Naylor, and Sara Logan;

Three Blind Mice - Mary Neall, Rachel Dorris, and Brittany McCoy;

Walk the Talk - Linsey Arfsten, Andrea Fox, Karen Maloney, Heather Melton, and Sarah Jenkins;

Walkin' Women - Stephanie Vance, Sandy Hollandsworth, Lisa Jones, Melinda Crook, and Carri Richardson;

Warrior Walkers - Joanie Blackburn, Anita Patrick, Melanie G. Fann, Dawn Witty, and Chris Blackburn;

West Side Steppers - Tammy Noblin, Kendria Smithson, Lori Campbell, Gina Mitchell, and Michelle McClure;

WGS Walkers - Betsy Hawkins, Ashley Pelham, Beth Mathis, Tiffany Gannon, and Alysia Pitts.

The goal is to log 500 miles in five weeks. That is the distance from Memphis to Bristol on interstate 40 traveling west. Check their progress on our University of Tennessee Extension website at
