I’m Darrell Young and seeking re-election as Cannon County Sheriff. I am a life long resident of Cannon County living in the Short Mountain area. I am married to Rachel Young and have three children, Brian Young, Chasity Evans and Christopher Young.

My parents are Joy and the late Billy Jack Young. My grandparents are Willie Mae Young and the late Jim Young and the late Frank and Lola Henegar.

I am a graduate from Woodbury Central High School in 1973. I have been working in law enforcement here in Cannon County for the past 23 years. I started with the Sheriff’s Department in 1991 as a deputy sheriff under former Sheriff Robert Simpson and a graduate of the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy in 1991. I left in 1992 to take a position with the Woodbury Police Department where I was a patrolman, captain and Assistant Chief.

There I remained until August 2010 when I was elected as Sheriff of Cannon County. I and my staff have worked hard to make the citizens proud of the Sheriff’s Department.

I will be hard to see everyone across the county so I would like to take this opportunity to again ask for your vote and support in the upcoming August 7, 2014 election.
Thank you,
Sheriff Darrell Young
