Sex, Drug Cases Bound Over To Grand Jury



Judge Susan Melton presided over Cannon County General Sessions Criminal Court on Tuesday and Wednesday (May 15 and 16). The results of some of the cases on the docket were:

• Jason Brockman had one charge of Aggravated Sexual Exploitation Of A Minor bound over to the grand jury.  For counts were dismissed by the State. Brockman indicated he would enter a plea to the charge in Cannon County Circuit Court on May 24.

• Alexander Kirk Webb had bound over the the grand jury charges of Initiation Of Process To Manufacture Methamphetamine and Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia. Webb indicated he would enter a plea to the meth charge in Cannon County Circuit Court on May 24.

• Dustin Lee Alsup pled guilty to Domestic Assault. He received a suspended sentence of 11 months, 29 days, equal time on probation, was ordered to serve 9 days in jail, to receive a Domestic Violence Inventory assessment, have no contact with the victim and to stay away from the premises where the incident occurred.

• Alexander Bradley Campbell pled guilty to Joyriding (reduced from Theft Over $1,000). He received a suspended sentence of 11 months, 29 days, equal time on probation, was assessed court costs and was ordered to pay restitution to the victim. Campbell also pled guilty to Leaving The Scene Of An Accident. He was ordered to serve 24 days in the county jail. Charges of Driving Without A License, Filing A False Report and Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia were dismissed.

• Vicente Vargas Escalante pled guilty to Driving While License Suspended. A was given a 6 month suspended sentence, equal probation time, was fined $50 and assessed court costs. He will also have his license suspended for a time period to be determined by the Tennessee Department of Safety.

• Joshua Ryan Hardin pled guilty to DWI (under 21). He was fined $250 and assessed court costs. Hardin also pled guilty to Simple Possession Of Schedule II Narcotics. He received a suspended sentence of 11 months, 29 days, equal probation time, a $750 fined and was assessed court costs. Hardin also pled guilty to Violation Of The Implied Consent Law. He was assessed court costs and his license was suspended for one year. Charges of Driving While License Suspended, Possession Of A Legend Drug and Open Container were dismissed.

• Alex Blake Taylor had a charge of Simple Possession Of Marijuana dismissed by the State. He was a co-defendant in the Hardin case.

• Nathan Daniel Horn entered into agreed orders of retirement for 11 months, 29 days on the charges of Domestic Assault and Possession Of Scheduled VI Drug (marijuana). He admitted to guilt in both cases. He was assessed court costs on one count, ordered to received a Domestic Violence Inventory assessment, pay probation fees and see his probation officer twice per month until all conditions are met.

• Celia Karen Hall pled guilty to DUI. She was given a partially suspended sentence of 11 months, 29 days, probation for an equal amount of time, 48 hours of confinement, was ordered to pay a $350 fine and court costs, and her license was suspended for one year.

• Dustin Lee Reed pled guilty to DUI 2nd Offense (reduced from 3rd Offense). He received a partially suspended sentence of 11 months, 29 days, 45 days in jail, probation for 11 months, 29 days, a $600 fine and was assessed court costs. His license was suspended for two years. Reed also pled guilty to Domestic Assault. He received a suspended sentence of 11 months, 29 days, equal probation time, was ordered to received a Domestic Violence Inventory assessment and was assessed court costs. The sentences will run concurrent.

• Crystal Joy Vincion entered into an agreed order of retirement for 11 months, 29 days on a charge of Domestic Assault, subject to good and lawful conduct. She was ordered to pay the county’s litigation tax and restitution to the victim. She was also ordered to have no contact with the victim and stay away from the premises of where the incident occurred.

• Billy E. Lokey pled guilty to Driving While License Revoked. He received a 6 month suspended sentence, equal time on probation, a $50 fine and was assessed court costs. His license was suspended for a period to be set by the TN Dept. of Safety.

• Traie McBratnie admitted to guilt an entered into an agreed order of retirement for 11 months, 29 days on the charge of Violation Of The 18-20 Consumption Law. He was also ordered to pay the county’s litigation tax.

• Roy Ray Murphy pled guilty to Driving Whileout A License. He received a 30 day suspended sentence, equal probation time, a $2 fine and was assessed court costs.

• Jamie Dean Nicholson pled guilty to DUI 2nd Offense. He received a partially suspended sentence of 11 months, 29 days, probation for 10 months, 14 days, was ordered to serve 45 days in the county jail, fined $600, assessed court costs and his license was suspended for two year. Nicholson also pled guilty to Possession Of A Schedule III Controlled Substance. He received a partially suspended sentence of 11 months, 29, 45 days in jail, probation for 10 months, 14 days, a $750 fine and was assessed court costs. Charges of Driving On Revoked License 6th Offense, Possession Of Legend Drugs and Open Container Law were dismissed.

• Ronald Glenn Ragan pled guilty to Public Intoxication. He was given a 30 day suspended sentence, equal time on probation, was fined $5 and assessed court costs.

• Linda Lee Reid entered no contest pleas to the charges of Criminal Trespass and Disorderly Conduct. She was given a 30 day suspended sentence, 30 days probation and was ordered to pay court costs on each charge. She was also ordered to stay away from the premises where the incident occurred, Cannon County High School. A charge of Resisting Arrest was dismissed.

• Michael Myrlin Osborne pled guilty to Driving While License Suspended. Sentencing was set for Aug. 28.

• Donald Carl Stewart pled guilty to Speeding (67/55), was fined $2, and assessed court costs. He also pled guilty to Seat Belt Law violation was was fined $10. Open Container and Financial Responsibility charges were dismissed.

• Frank Howell Turner pled guilty to DUI. He received a partially suspended sentence of 11 months, 29 days, equal time on probation, was fined $350, assessed court costs, ordered to serve 7 days confinement, attend DUI School and his license was suspended for one year.

• Terrie Patton Royse entered a no contest plea to the charge of Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia. She received a partially suspended sentence of 11 months, 29 days, probation for 11 months, 26 days, a three-day jail sentence, was fined $150 and assessed court costs.  A charge of DUI By Consent was dismissed.

• Joshua Allen Underwood pled guilty to Violation Of Probation. He was ordered to serve 75 days in jail and his probation was extended for 19 months, 12 days.

• Jeremy Wayne Vanatta was appointed the public defender for an administrative fee of $50 and had charges of Driving While License Suspended 3rd Offense and Worthless Check reset for July 17.

• Steven C. Medley had a charge of Possession Of A Controlled Substance dismissed by the State after he provided proof of a valid prescription.

• Nathan Lewayne Davis failed to appear on a charge of Violation Of Probation. A Capias was issued for his arrest.

• Justin Patrick Richardson failed to appear on a charge of Violation Of The 18-20 Underage Consumption Law. A Capias was issued for his arrest.

• Jarrett Hopkins failed to appear on a charge of Driving While License Revoked. A Show Cause was issued.

• Kenneth Franklin Anderson, Jr. had a preliminary hearing set for July 10 on a charge of Initiating The Process To Manufacture Methamphetamine.

• George Owen Mears had a preliminary hearing set for July 10 on a charge of Facilitation Of The Manufacture Of Methamphetamine and Maintaining A Dwelling To Use/Keep/Sale Controlled Substance.

• Timothy Mears had a preliminary hearing set for July 10 on a charge of Initiating The Process To Manufacture Methamphetamine.

• Eve Moore had a preliminary hearing set for July 10 on a charge of Facilitation Of The Manufacture Of Methamphetamine and Maintaining A Dwelling To Use/Keep/Sale Controlled Substance.

• Connie Chapman Ashford had charges of DUI and Implied Consent Law reset for June 19.

• Michael Noah Barrett had a charge of Driving While License Suspended reset for July 17.

• Isaiah Dennis Burton had charges of Driving While License Suspended 2nd Offense and Speeding reset for July 17.

• Jacklyn Stormy Hayes had a charge of Driving While License Suspended reset for May 22.

• Gina Elaine House had a charge of Public Intoxication reset for May 22.

• Justin Blake Kelley had a charge of Driving While License Suspended 2nd Offense reset for July 17.

• Justin James Kirkpatrick had two charges of Driving While License Suspended reset for July 17.

• Brents L. Molloy had a charge of DUI 3rd Offense reset for Aug. 7.

• Jessica Ann Padgett had a charge of Driving While License Suspended reset for July 17.

• Holly C. Phillips had a charge of DUI 1st Offense reset for May 22.

• Pleas Edward Schultz had a charge of DUI By Consent reset for June 19 after he was appointed the public defender and assessed an administrative fee of $50.

• Shirley Ann Shannon had a charge of DUI By Consent reset for June 19.

• April A. Smith had a Worthless Check charge reset for Dec. 4.

• Jessica Whitworth Stephens had a charge of Theft Under $500 reset for June 19 after she was appointed the public defender.

• Paula Kaye Travis had a charge of Driving While License Suspended reset for July 17.
