Theft
Deputies are investigating the theft of a trophy-winning Harley Davidson motorcycle from a home on Joe Blanton Road.
Owner Brent Beasley described it as a 1987 Harley Davidson softtail with drag-style handlebars. The motorcycle is very recognizable due to the numerous chrome-plated "Old No. 7" accessories. It was taken from a shed behind Beasley's home.
The Harley has a solid black gas tank and the frame comes to a "V" shape under the seat and includes a custom three spoke front wheel that came with only that style motorcycle.
Anyone with knowledge of the stolen motorcycle should call the Cannon County Sheriff's Department at 563-1000.

Meth-related arrest
A Cannon County man was charged with promotion of methamphetamine following a "hit" on the Nplexe system.
Investigators Brandon Gullett and Chris Brown arrested Barry C. Bogle of Judge Purser Hill Road after he was identifed as making a suspicious purchase of pseudo ephedrine tablets at the Walgreens store on Nolensville Pike in Nashville.
The National Precursor Log Exchange (NPLEx) is a real-time electronic logging system used by pharmacies and law enforcement to track sales of over-the-counter (OTC) cold and allergy medications containing precursors to the illegal drug, methamphetamine.
Gullett notified state Probation and Parole agents John Patiko and Ryan Dillion who went to Bogle's home address where they spotted a metal barrel with flames and acrid smoke coming from it. The smoke had a strong chemical smell.
Once home, Bogle was administered a drug screen and was asked about the pill purcahse. Bogle told the officers that he had given the pseudo to a friend he had met at a barbecue restaurant at the Hardling Place exit on I-24 in Nashville.
"I advised Barry that story was unbelievable," Gullett said.
A court date is set for Feb. 10 in General Sessions Court.

No seatbelt
Terry Charles Jordan was pulled over because his passenger was not wearing a seatbelt. When checked through dispatch, it was discovered Jordan's license was suspended.

DUI driver passes school bus
Deputy Andrew Colwell was on patrol when he spotted a gold-colored Ford Ranger pass a south bound school bus which was displaying flashing red lights and a stop sign on South McCrary Street.
Colwell immediately stopped the driver, who was identified as Jerry Lee Gilliam.
Gilliam was fumbling around with his wallet and checkbook looking for his driver's license and insurance information. Unable to find either, Gilliam told the officer that they must be in his other wallet at home.
Colwell contacted dispatch and discovered Gilliam's license was revoked for a DUI in 2003.
He ordered Gilliam out of his vehicle and searched him. His ID was discovered in a second wallet in his back pocket.
Gilliam was subsequently charged with DUI, driving on a revoked license, cited for financial responsibility and was charged with passing a school bus.

Shoplifting Charges
Tracy Elizabeth Oneal was charged with shoplifting two cartons of antihistamine tablets at Piggly Wiggly by Assistant Chief Lowell Womack. A hearing is set for Feb. 10 in General Sessions Court.

Melinda Carol Barrett was charged with the theft of $13 worth of perfume, shampoo and other products from the Dollar Market by Assistant Chief Lowell Womack. A hearing is set for Feb. 10 in General Sessions Court.

Jason Neil Gannon was charged with the theft of a pink toboggan hat from the Quick Shop Market by Assistant Chief Lowell Womack. A hearing is set for Feb. 10 in General Sessions Court.
