Seven Enter Guilty Pleas In General Sessions Court



Judge Susan Melton presided over Cannon County General Sessions Court on Tuesday.  Some of the results from the various cases which appeared on the docket included:

Robert L. Self pled guilty to the charge of vandalism under $500.00.  He was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days in the county jail.  That sentence was suspended upon an equal amount of time on probation, paying the court costs and paying restitution.

Cynthia Gray pled guilty to the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.  She was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days in the county jail.  That sentence was suspended upon an equal amount of time on probation, paying the court costs and paying a $150.00 fine.

Magnolia Stephens pled guilty to the charge of violation of probation.  Her probation was extended and she was ordered to serve 90 days in jail.  In another case, Stephens pled guilty to the charge of failure to appear.  She was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days in the county jail.  That sentence was suspended upon an equal amount of time on probation, paying the court costs and paying restitution.  Stephens also pled guilty to the charge of driving on a suspended license 2nd offense.  She was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days in the county jail.  That sentence was suspended upon an equal amount of time on probation, paying a $50.00 fine and paying the court costs.

Jimmie L. Barnes, II pled guilty to the charge of driving under the influence.  He was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days in the county jail and ordered to serve his entire sentence.  He was also fined $350.00 and ordered to pay the court costs.  He will also lose his driver’s license for 1 year.

Joshua Underwood pled guilty to the charge of violation of probation.  He was sentenced to 40 days in jail and his probation was extended.

Danny H. Kennedy pled guilty to the charge of violation of probation.  His probation was extended and he was ordered to serve 15 days in jail.

Gerald McCandless pled guilty to the charge of driving on a suspended license.  He was sentenced to 6 months in the county jail.  That sentence was suspended upon an equal amount of time on probation, paying a $50.00 fine and paying the court costs.

The allowing dogs to run at large case against Ricky Ray Mullins was retired for 6 months.  The conditions of the retirement are that he maintain good and lawful conduct and replace the dog which was killed by his animal.  He was also ordered to keep his animals up.  If he complies with those conditions, the case will be dismissed.

The vandalism and criminal trespassing cases against Corey McNeese and Lindsey Farless were retired for 6 months.  They were accused of removing several of former Cannon County Sheriff Billy Nichols’ election yard signs this past summer.  They were ordered to maintain good and lawful conduct.  If they comply with that condition, their cases will be dismissed.

Those cases not listed above were either dismissed or continued until another court date.
