NASHVILLE - State Senator Mae Beavers (R-Mt. Juliet) recently received the highest rating for conservative excellence from the American Conservative Union Foundation (ACU).

The ACU researches and selects a wide range of bills that reflect a member's adherence to conservative principles, whether they are economic, social, cultural or government integrity. While the group recognizes lawmakers who score above 80 percent in each state to receive awards for their commitment to conservative principles, Beavers met the criteria of the highest tier reserved for legislators who score 90 percent or above earning her the Award for Conservative Excellence.

According to ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp, the group's state ratings reflect the Tennessee legislators with the highest scores voted most consistently with the ideals articulated in the U.S. Constitution: limited and transparent government, individual rights, personal responsibility and lasting cultural values.

"I appreciate this recognition and pledge to continue my support for protecting state sovereignty, upholding the U.S. Constitution and supporting conservative principles and values in the Tennessee State Senate" said Senator Beavers.

Senator Beavers is a Republican lawmaker representing Cannon, Clay, DeKalb, Macon, Smith, and Wilson Counties in Senate District 17. She served eight years in the State House of Representatives before being elected to the State Senate, where she has served for the past 14 years.
