NASHVILLE – June 21, 2010 – The Tennessee Veterinary Medical Association has awarded Representative Stratton Bone with the President’s Award in recognition of his commitment to ensuring animal health and well-being in Tennessee.

“Representative Bone is the type of representative that everyone would love to have,” said Frankie Locklar, TVMA Legislative Chair, “he is sincere, attentive, and accessible.”

Representative Bone’s district includes Cannon, Trousdale and part of Wilson counties. Elected to the state House of Representatives in 1996, he serves as Chair of the House Agriculture Committee and a member of the House Sub of Agriculture Subcommittee, House Calendar and Rules, Finance, Ways and Means, and Joint Pensions and Insurance Committees.

He received a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Tennessee and is a member of the UT Department of Animal Science “Advocacy Group”, the UT College of Agriculture Development Board and the Tennessee Cattlemen’s Association.

Representative Bone accepted the award during a banquet which included family, peers and guests as well as other award winners from across the state of Tennessee. The luncheon was held in conjunction with the 2010 Music City Veterinary Conference which was held at the Franklin Marriott Cool Springs.
