Reading program ends with a splash

Summer Reading Program ends with a splash and a growl!

This past week was the end to the 2016 Summer Reading Program, Get Ready! Set! Read! We had almost 200 participants of all ages who spent 420 hours reading and devoured 1,465 books. Prizes were awarded throughout the program, when readers turned in their reading slips, with grand prizes drawn at the pool party. Thursday, July 21, the Summer Reading Program found everyone at the community pool celebrating reading and the end of summer. Hotdogs donated by Save A Lot, buns donated by Osborne's Piggly Wiggly and drinks donated by the Dollar Market made the party festive and fun. Saturday, July 23, Bob Tarter presented the final program by bringing a menagerie of animals to illustrate his presentation on the "health" of planet Earth. Summer Reading is over for this year and we're all looking forward to another great summer of reading next year.

Tuesday, July 26, and Thursday, July 28, at 1:00 pm we will continue the Summer Story Times. Come for a story and a craft to end the summer. Starting August 4, story time returns to 10:30 am on Thursday.
