Ray Neal, Jr., 84, died Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Westmoreland Care and Rehab.

A resident of Smithville, he worked as a carpenter and a bait saleman. He was of the Methodist faith and served in the U.S. Navy. He belonged to the American Legion and Ocana Coon Hunters Club.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 14, 2010, at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Royce Martin officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery in Nashville.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 13, 2010 from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until time of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Mary Winnie Raymond Neal, Sr; wife, Frances C. Neal; son, Carlus Ray Neal; brothers, Billy Charles and John Robert Neal; and sister, Ailene Spivack.

He is survived by four children, Richard A. (Pat) Neal of Lebanon, Karen Joyce (Earl) Smith of Westmoreland, Thomas A. Neal of Carthage, and David Lee (Tammy) Neal of Woodbury; two brothers, Clayton Gail Neal and Morris (Shirley) Neal, both of Woodbury; a sister, Mary (John) Young of Smithville; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
