Pyles, Smith Cases Bound For Grand Jury



Judge Susan Melton presided over Cannon County General Sessions Court on Tuesday. Some of the results from the various cases which appeared on the docket included:

Lisa Pyles was bound over to the September, 2010 term of the Cannon County Grand Jury. She is charged with theft over $500.00 and 17 counts of passing a worthless check.

Ila Kay Smith was bound over to the September, 2010 term of the Cannon County Grand Jury. She is charged with filing a false report, public intoxication, aggravated assault and public indecency. In another case, Smith pled guilty to the charge of violation of probation. Her probation was extended and she was ordered to serve 60 days in jail.

Courtne Elrod’s petition for suspended sentence was denied by Judge Melton.

Gregory Clark pled guilty to the charge of joyriding. He was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days in the county jail. That sentence was partially suspended upon an equal amount of time on probation, serving 28 days in jail and paying the court costs.

Robert Burton, III pled guilty to the charge of assault. He was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days in the county jail. That sentence was partially suspended upon an equal amount of time on probation, serving 47 days in jail and paying the court costs.

Linda D. Parrott pled guilty to the charge of simple possession of marijuana. She was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days in the county jail. That sentence was suspended upon an equal amount of time on probation, paying a $250.00 fine and paying the court costs.

Deborah Smithson pled guilty to the charge of driving on a suspended license. She was sentenced to 6 months in the county jail. That sentence was partially suspended upon an equal amount of time on probation, serving 25 days in jail, paying a $50.00 fine and paying the court costs.

Joe T. Martin pled guilty to the charge of violation of probation. His probation was extended and he was ordered to serve 30 days in jail.

Gregory W. Hale pled guilty to the charge of domestic assault. He was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days in the county jail. That sentence was partially suspended upon an equal amount of time on probation, serving 44 days in jail and paying the court costs. In another case, Hale pled guilty to the charge of assault. He was sentenced to 6 months in the county jail. That sentence was suspended upon an equal amount of time on probation and paying the court costs.

Roy Haley pled guilty to the charge of violation of probation. His probation was extended and he was ordered to serve 30 days in jail.

Twila W. Lack pled guilty to the charge of simple possession of marijuana. She was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days in the county jail. That sentence was suspended upon an equal amount of time on probation, paying the court costs and paying a $250.00 fine.
