Owen Medford Motley

Owen Medford Motley, 80 of Murfreesboro passed away Thurs., Feb. 17, 2011 at TN. State Veterans Home following an extended illness.  A native of Cannon Co., his parents were the late John Robert Motley & Lillie Sullins Motley. 

Funeral services will be 2 pm Sunday, Feb. 20 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Thomas Earl Nichols officiating.  Interment will follow in the Gunter Grizzle Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be Sat. from 2 pm – 8 pm.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Wilma Jo Gunter Motley of Murfreesboro; 2 children, Teresa Gwen Motley of Orlando, FL and Gregory Owen (Yvonne) Motley of Murfreesboro; Grandchildren, Laura Ball, Kyle & Katie Motley; Great Grandson, Christian Owen Motley and sister, Virginia (Nicholas) Boyko of Lincoln Park, MI. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Jessie Mae Underwood, Comer & Hoyte Motley and Naomi Howell.

A lifelong member of the Old Short Mtn. Methodist Church, he was a veteran of the Korean war where he served in the Air Force.  Mr. Motley was an Electrician, where he retired from Textron in Nashville and Samsonite in Murfreesboro.
