Opal Parker Armstong, age 94 of Murfreesboro, died Sunday, November 14, 2010.

She was a native of Cannon County and the daughter of the late Bob and Myrtle Swanger Parker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Hilton Armstrong, who died in 1966; her daughter, JeVena, who died in 1995; brothers, Hilary Parker and wife Clara, Homer Parker and wife Mildred; sister, Mamie Rogers and husband Omar; and sister-in-law, Delois Parker.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. Dr. Jim Clardy and Janice Watkins will officiate. Burial will be in Ivy Bluff Cemetery, Cannon County.

Mrs. Armstrong is survived by two brothers; Houston Parker and wife Lyda, and Kenneth O. Parker, all of Woodbury; sixteen nieces and nephews, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Armstrong was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and retired from teaching at Mitchell Neilson Primary.

Active Pallbearers will be John, Joe, Robert and Mark Parker, Brian, David, Morris and Bobby Parker, Jerry, Kenneth and Houston Parker.

A special thanks to her devoted caregiver, Joyce Buchanan.
