With all the candidates seeking the office of Trustee, are you wondering who is right for the job? I would like to take this opportunity to ask for your vote August 5 for Trustee of Cannon County.

I am a lifelong resident of Cannon County and I feel that anyone seeking any job in the City or County should apply and qualify when a job becomes available whether elected or not. I am not running with a list of all my relatives or acquaintances in order to get your vote...I am running strictly based on my qualifications and ability to perform this job. Please consider this my resume/application for this position to the Citizens of Woodbury and Cannon County.

I am currently employed by Floyd Wilson, State Farm Agent and have worked here for the past 14 years as Office Manger. Prior to that I worked for McCrary-Harrell Insurance for Cap McCrary and Charlie Harrell where I became a licensed Tennessee Insurance Agent and began my insurance career. I have been licensed for the past 30 years and have worked in the insurance industry since 1974. I attended Woodbury Grammar School for eight years and Woodbury Central High School for four years. After graduation I continued my education and each year I receive annual updated credits for Insurance as well as the Planning Commission. If elected Trustee I will continue my education through annual updates. I currently serve on the Woodbury City Board of Mayor and Aldermen and have for the past 18 years, serving eight years as Vice Mayor. I also serve as Secretary of the Woodbury Planning Commission and serve on The Regional Solid Waste Board. I have worked in Woodbury in the public most of my career and would like to work in Woodbury again. I miss serving all the people I worked with here before in Woodbury.

If elected Trustee I will strive to make the adjustments necessary for more accessible methods of payment. I will turn over any fees collected in the Trustee’s office back in to the County. What I won’t do is make “promises” that I cannot keep and do not have control over. I will be glad to help get your tax lowered under the tax relief program if you qualify and will be glad to help anyone complete the forms. I will be glad to help anyone who is handicapped or disabled or due to age may need assistance. I do promise to serve diligently and professionally and I will exercise the duties under control of the Trustee’s office to the best of my ability. I also promise to treat everyone equally and ask that you give me this opportunity to serve you as your new Trustee for Cannon County. Your vote will be greatly appreciated.

Everyone currently seeking this position should know that there is a County Commission with ten elected commissioners who vote over a budget each year and have control over the offices as well as what is available to each office to use. Without approval by the Board of County Commissioners, there are limited resources available at this time without some type of special grant for upgrading unless it is mandated by the state.

I would like to extend my thanks to Mr. James Maxwell for his work in getting computers approved to be installed in July. He deserves the credit for the computers and software that are being installed currently. I would also like to thank Mr. Maxwell for answering the numerous questions I asked relative to this job.
