The Cannon County Historical Society will meet Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 7 p.m. at the Adams Memorial Library, in the basement meeting room.

The featured speaker will be Malanie Garrett Nistad, writer of "Mechanicsville," an outstanding book about the Mechanisville-Half Acre community and the Short Mountain area.

Melanie is the daughter of Ken and Marie Hale Garrett; the wife of Frank; the mother of Tylee; and the sister of Marcia Melton.

She is a talented speaker (and entertainer) and very enjoyable!

Copies of her book will be available for purchase.

"We will deal with any business that may need to be brought before the society," President Joe B. Davenport said.

The Cannon County Historical Society is dedicated to the preservation of the history and heritage of Cannon County and its people.
