Guns and a safe were among the items stolen during a home burglary which apparently occurred sometime last weekend.

Cannon County Sheriff’s Deputy Travis Turney was dispatched to 184 Smith Road the early morning of April 25 to take a report of a break-in that had already occurred.

Upon arrival he spoke with residents Rebecca Ann Bowman and Scotty Wayne Bowman. Rebecca Bowman stated they had left for Alabama on April 22 and returned on April 25 at around 1:30 a.m. to find that their home had been burglarized.

The Bowmans said their kitchen window had been pried open and their safe was missing from their bedroom. No signs of damage were found on the window.

Scotty Bowman stated there were four guns, miscellaneous ammo and prescription medicine missing from the safe.

The four guns, three long rifles and a shotgun, has a total estimated value of $1,250.

The incident remains under investigation.
