Aleda Paschal Ross passed away Friday, Dec. 24, 2021, age 87. She was born June 11, 1934 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee to Hoyte and Rosa Nell Mason Paschal. An only child, , Aleda graduated from high school in Woodbury, before moving to Nashville with her family. She worked for the Tennessee tourism department downtown.
In 1956, the Paschal's drove Route 66 to Albuquerque to visit relatives, stopping for a few days in Olton, TX to stay with old friends. Aleda was introduced to Walter Thomas Ross (Tom) and they married a couple of months later. Three years later, they moved to Alaska to homestead.
In 1968, the Ross's returned to Texas to be near their aging parents. They took over ranch and farming operations for Tom's folks in Flomot, Motley County. They raised their children there and delighted in caring for their first granddaughter.
Tom died in 2006 and Aleda moved to Lubbock to live with her daughter in 2016. She is also predeceased by her parents.
Aleda was witty with a shy, self-effacing sense of humor. She loved music, crochet, reading and the outdoors. Survivors include:
Elisa and Stan Wigley; Tom P. and Tara Ross; Paul and Aleda Ross Batchelder; step-daughter Jan Carson; many grandchildren and even a few great-grands.
Graveside services was held Wednesday December 29, 2021 at 2:00pm at the Crowell, TX Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
