As a large storm system develops across the central and southern plains today, a strong surface pressure gradient will begin to develop and become increasingly established this afternoon across the mid state region. This strong surface pressure gradient will continue through Tuesday night. Sustained southerly surface winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts 35 to 40 mph can be expected Tuesday afternoon through mid morning hours on Wednesday.

• TIMING...NOON Tuesday to 9 AM CST Wednesday

• WINDS...Breezy south wind 15 to 25 mph with gusts 35 to 40 mph

• IMPACTS...Gusty winds can cause tree and branch damage. Loose outdoor objects may be blown around. High profile vehicles, especially those traveling on east-west roadways, may experience travel difficulties.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS

A Wind Advisory means that winds of 40 mph are possible. Winds this strong may blow down a few trees or tree limbs and cause isolated power outages. Driving may also become difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
