To the Editor:
Usually every time we pick up the newspaper its full of bad news or no news. I had to write a human interest story about an amazing teenager who I had the blessing of knowing. His name is A.J. Iman. He was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident a couple of weeks ago. And he was an organ donor.
His best friend spoke at his funeral about hows his aunt was the one who benefited by receiving his kidney. Someone is alive after getting a heart transplant. There is a person who is looking through A.J.’s eyes. Burn victims at Vanderbilt have skin to cover their scars. Somebody needing a liver has an extension on their life, his blood is pumping through someone’s body that needed a transfusion.
It’s amazing to me just how many people A.J. Has helped in his short life on earth. Just being at his service seeing all his friends and family that his wonderful person touched so many lives! I was so fortunate to know him. I did his hair and his brother Daniel’s for years. They’re very special to me and we miss him terribly.
Please pray that God will comfort his family during this time and give them the strength to go on without him. Knowing he has helped so many people to still have their loved ones, sure makes me think more about being a donor.
I just want to say I’m so proud to have known A.J. And his family. God bless them.
