Howard and Vestal Goodman are singing that good, old classic gospel song, "I Wouldn't Take Nothing for My Journey Now" on my stereo this morning. We're all on our journey home and what a homecoming that will be. You could always see how happy they were about Jesus. Bet they are singing even better now in heaven.

Sun breaking through finally this Saturday after two days of off and on rain totaling two and a half inches. Just what we didn't need was more rain. We hadn't dried out after the last inch or two. Weeds are rampant around here. I don't think I will ever be able to get them all out of my sight before another crop of weeds pops up overnight.

No "little green men" bothering me or anyone else around here for the time being. Don't know if they have returned from their vacation. We'll have to ask Clyde or Bobby as they keep tabs on the little fellas.

I've still got the beetles at by with Sevin dust. I believe they work on my plants the minute the rain washes off the Sevin. Pesky little rascals!

Today is a good day with a cool northwest wind flowing across our patio as I rest after trimming and pulling weeds. Will soon be back to that grueling chore.

It's time for fireworks to be heard all over the place. It seems like we have more fireworks stands this year than we normally have. A lot of people really get to shooting fireworks in a big way. Remember, kids need to be supervised. No one wants to have to be rushed to the emergency room, so keep safety on your mind.

Some July birthdays to let you know about: Lynn Hullet the 7th, Zeke Hullett the 11th, Zach Martin the 15th, Baylie Hullett the 21st, Blake Mendenhall the 21st, Betty Sue Hullett the 25th, Nathan Evans the 27th and Danny Evans the 29th.

Almost forget to tell you about Tony and Tracy Neal's 28th wedding anniversary on July 29th. Hope you kids have a good one.

Haven't seen any of my neighbor's "porkers" out and rooting in the ground. They have probably sold them. I'm hoping that's the case, they were big hogs and were what I call a very tasty meal on four feet. Gravy, eggs, biscuits and ham just makes you hungry to think about it. But it's about lunch time and anything sounds good right now. Tuna and crackers in the cabinet and bread-and-butter picks in the fridge. I'm going to have a feast.

Carlon Melton got to be in church Sunday. Everyone was glad he was able to attend. Mai Nell was there too. Keep them both in your prayers along with Charlie Mai Daniel and Denise Stanton.

If you have any news, just give me a call at 615-563-4429.

Have a great day!

Ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy not man taketh from you. -- John 16:22
