July 4th finally here and they'll be plenty of fireworks going off today and a lot more tonight, if the rain will just old off. The weather people sort of in a quandary about the timing of the rain and possibly some thunderstorms late in the day. They're expecting around 250,000 people in Nashville to watch their gigantic fireworks celebration down there. If a person got lost in that big a crowd of people, it would be like looking for a needle in a haystack to find them. Way too many people to be rubbing shoulders with for me so I'll just take care of the home front and enjoy the fireworks around here closer to home and my serene civilization that is going on in my small part of the universe.

I've heard from Bobby and Clyde the 'little green men' are planning a surprise fireworks demonstration for me later on today. They're not thinking that through as a whole lot of fireworks would for sure be dropped in their dwelling place which is the devil hole before the day is over, if they made that mistake. Would enlist Clyde and Bobby to carry this chore out. Really don't know how fast Bobby can run but Clyde has said he left the little green fellas in the dust some time ago. Still wondering if he really did that. Will have to take his word on it as there were no eye witnesses or video of the event to back up his story. The little aliens are not refuting Clyde's account of what happened. I personally think Clyde was so terrified of them that his feet probably stepped up literally several notches as in mph and he was out of sight from them, before even he knew it. People can do supernatural things if scared bad enough. Two things most likely would happen if you spotted the aliens. First, you would pass out and die right on the spot (that would be me) or second you would be as fast as the coyotes around here doing their vanishing act as now you see them and now you don't.

Everyone delighted that Carlon Melton was able to be back in church last Sunday. It has certainly been a spell since he had been there. A lot of prayers still being prayed for you Carlon. Mai Nell, good to see you too.

Gracie Bratcher had a birthday on June 20th. I'll just wish you a happy belated birthday, Gracie. I've put your birthday on my calendar so next year it will be included with all the other birthdays for the month of June. Enjoyed talking with you last week, Gracie. You've never changed in all the years "Aubrey" and I have known you. Guess that's why we have always thought so much of you.

Two corrections I need to make on the last column on the birthday list for July: Zeke Hullett 11th, and Zach Martin 15th. Also, Tony and Tracy Neal have a wedding anniversary on July 29th. It will be their 28th.

Please keep these people in your prayers: Ruth Brown, Fay Pitts, Edith Miller, Donna Lawson, Charlie Mai Daniel, and Denise Stanton.

Pastor Chris preaching a powerful message Sunday on us stepping up and doing what the Lord calls us to do in life for Him. Everyone doing their part even if it seems small to us will add up to a lot for the Lord's kingdom. That is how it works as we all have a talent or talents that God almighty has given us and we should use them for His glory. Ask Him to open up doors and create opportunities for you to witness to people how great He is and do for others if you can, who need help with difficult situations they are going through. None of us are an island to himself as we all at some point in time in our life have to have help from someone. Show the love of Jesus each day by what you say and do to others. Seeds will be planted in this way and souls will be added to His kingdom. I believe time is short and the fields are ready for harvest and we must not tarry in winning souls to Jesus.

Finishing up the column and the rain is still coming down in the buckets. We need rain every so often to help out all of the crops whether it be in a garden or a field. At the end of the day, we've gotten two inches here on the mountain this Tuesday, July 5th.

If you have any news for the column, just give me a call at 615-563-4429. Have a great day!

Pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. Matthew 6:6
