Newburn Keith Hayes, 80, died Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at his home.

A native of Cannon Co., he was a CPA with Price-Waterhouse and later Chief Financial Officer for Cummings Sign Co.  

A lifelong entrepreneur, he built several businesses and recently developed Lake Hollow Retreats Subdivision.

He was a TN Walking Horse breeder and raised several notable horses including the 2002 World Champion Juvenile Horse. Mr. Hayes was also a farmer and a member of the TWHBEA.

Survivors include his wife, Emma Faye Nichols Hayes of Woodbury; children: Barry Burns of Rockvale, Lisa (Greg) Batey of Lascassas and Ronda (Nelson) Vaughter of Rockvale; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Hayes of Woodbury and Linda (Joe) Wilson of Elizabethton; brothers: Edwin (Judy) Hayes of Nashville, Bob (Betty) Hayes of Woodbury, Ronald (Patti) Hayes of Woodbury and Jerry (Cathy) Hayes of Murfreesboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Syrene Smith Hayes.

Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2011 with Pastor Morgan Davis officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 10, 2011.
