The newly chartered American Legion Post #279. Woodbury, Tennessee, will meet on Thursday, March 18, 2010, at the Senior Citizens Center in Woodbury. A meal will be served at 6 p.m. for a $5.00 donation. The official meeting will start at 6:30 PM.

All members, as well as all prospective members, are invited. All necessary paperwork will be available for those who want to transfer their membership to POST #279.

Also, new members can sign up and be issued their membership cards at the same time.

There will be meet and greet session so that we get to know one another.

PREAMBLE TO THE CONSTITUTION OF THE AMERICAN LEGION

For God and Country we associate ourselves together for the following purposes:

To uphold and defend the constitution of the United States of America;

To maintain law and order;

To foster and perpetuate a one hundred percent Americanism;

To preserve the memories and incidents of our association in the Great Wars;

To inculcate a sense of individual obligation to the community, state, and nation;

To combat the autocracy of both the classes and the masses;

To make right the Master of Might;

To promote peace and good will on earth;

To safeguard and transmit to posterity the principles of justice, freedom. and democracy;

To consecrate and sanctify our comradeship by our devotion to mutual helpfulness.
