Shannon Smith, seventh grade English teacher and Woodbury Grammar School Principal Bonnie Patterson congratulate Hannah Nave, center, on her state finalist essay, "What is a Farmer?"

The Cannon County Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee is delighted to announce that Hannah Nave‘s essay “What is a Farmer?” has been selected one of the top three finalist in the state competition.

 Each county farm bureau is encouraged to host essay competitions for seventh graders in their county and submit the top essay to the Tennessee Farm Bureau for consideration for top honors.

Hannah’s essay won for Ms. Shannon Smith’s class at Woodbury Grammar School then was selected the top entry in Cannon County.

She was notified last week that her entry is being considered for top honors at the state competition.  The top three essay writers will be recognized, along with their parents and teachers at the Tennessee Farm Bureau Women’s Conference in Columbia, June 17 – 18.  

First prize in the Tennessee Farm Bureau Essay contest is $700, second prize is $500 and third prize is $300.  

Hannah is the daughter of Glenn and Lou Nave.  A.J. Daniel, Woodland Grammar School student and son of Bruce and Melody Daniel, was recognized in 2010 for his second place entry in the state contest.

Cannon County can be proud of our young writers and the diligent teachers who help prepare them.
