Mother Charged With Child Neglect

A Woodbury woman has been charged with neglect after allegedly leaving her child outside in the cold.

Raine Marie Sullivan (a.k.a. Patterson) was charged by Assistant Police Chief Kevin Mooneyham of the Woodbury Police Dept. following the Feb. 8 incident.

According to Asst. Chief Mooneyham’s citation, he received a call to an apartment at Cannon Court in reference to child neglect. Upon arrival he found a six-year-old child outside of the apartment trying to get inside. The child had gotten off the school bus at approximately 3 p.m. and could not get inside.

Asst. Chief Mooneyham repeatedly beat on the door but was unsuccessful in getting the mother to the door. Due to weather conditions of 28 degrees with a wind chill of 19, the child was shaking uncontrollably.

When the apartment manager opened the door, the mother was found asleep on the couch. She admitted to taking two 5 mg valium prior to lying down. Patterson stated she did not know where her child was and, when asked, stated she was on the bus.

Bond was set at $25,000. Initial court date is March 22.
