Ms Eleanor Bell, and many others in the community, are taking part in a two year long project that is coming to an end.

They are writing a book on The History of The Cannon County Walking Horse Association. Ms Eleanor, in her usual cheerful self, approached the Courier staff, and asked if they would assist her in helping with her era. In Ms Eleanor's words "I experienced and lived through all of the years they are writing about, but when you get ready to put it down on paper, it is really hard to remember all of the dates and events ... especially 75 years worth!". \

Various volunteers in the community adopted different eras to write about or research. Ms. Eleanor came to the Courier to gather dates on her assignment.
The "Courier" staff enjoyed listening to Ms. Eleanor and her assistant talk about prices, old times and days gone by as they collected their stories, pictures and various announcements that had been printed over the past several years in the paper.

The Cannon County Walking Horse Historical Book Chairperson, Patricia Lance, invites anyone who has a photo or story to add to the book, to please get it to her quickly as the pages are filling up and the book will be on its way to print shortly.
Thank You, Ms Eleanor for allowing "The Courier" to be a part of this wonderful part of history your group is reviving.

NOTE: The local paper is a wonderful way to preserve history when one thinks about it. As you, community members, help us to write history each week, we are writing a history book about our community that generations to come can look back on as needs arise.
