Melton Selected For Mentor Award



LEXINGTON, Ky. – Bob Melton, agricultural educator in Woodbury, Tenn., has been selected as the 2012 Tennessee winner of the Teacher Mentor award given by the National Association of Agricultural Educators.

This award recognizes experienced agricultural educators who make the time to work with early career educators in an effort to help them become successful teachers.  By building positive relationships between themselves and beginning teachers, mentors help increase retention rates within the profession as well as help those teachers build successful programs.

Melton will compete against Teacher Mentor award winners from surrounding states for the opportunity to be named the 2012 Region V NAAE Teacher Mentor.

Regional winners will receive an expense paid trip to attend the 2012 NAAE convention.  The NAAE Teacher Mentor award program is sponsored by CEV Multimedia.  

NAAE is the professional organization in the United States for agricultural educators.  It provides its’ nearly 8,000 members with professional networking and development opportunities, professional liability coverage, and extensive awards and recognition programs. The mission of NAAE is “professionals providing agricultural education for the global community through visionary leadership, advocacy and service.”  The NAAE headquarters are in Lexington, Ky.
