The fifth seeded Cannon County Lionettes rolled over the Smith County Lady Owls last night for their sixth consecutive win over the team from Carthage 56-31. The Lionettes were led by Taylor Meeks 13 points. Two other Lionettes scored in double figures. Cannon got out to a big lead and never looked back.

Smith County finished the season with only 9 wins on the year for the third consecutive season. They also finished winless in the district which was the first time a District 8-AA team has been winless in the District since Dekalb County in the 2010-2011 campaign.
Cannon will go on to meet Dekalb County Wednesday night at 7:30 for the right to advance to the semifinals and an automatic bid to the region tournament.

It's still to early to predict but the Watertown Purple Lady Tigers may be throwing their name in the hat for the postseason Cinderella team of the tournament. Watertown lost twice to their opening round opponent Livingston of the District tournament during the regular season with the first meeting by 15 and the second one in Watertown by 7. Watertown almost collected win number three in the district last Thursday suffering a heartbreaking 44-43 loss to the third seeded team.
