Action has been taken after a Murfreesboro woman was injured following an accident in which she was hit while crossing the street using a crosswalk on West Main Street near the Cannon Dance Studio, Thursday evening December 20th. Majorie Miller was hit by an oncoming truck after she wrapped up a class at the studio and was headed toward her car parked in the courthouse parking lot. Miller received multiple injuries and is currently in physical rehabilitation but is expected to fully recover.
Woodbury Mayor Andy Duggin addressed the situation when he spoke with John Barker of the Middle Tennessee Electric Cooperative. Mayor Duggin wanted to get brighter lighting near the crosswalk so people could be more visible in the evening especially when traffic is busy through the intersection between 4-7pm. Thursday, an MTEMC crew installed a bright LED street light above the sidewalk on the business side to help alleviate the problem.
Mayor Duggin would like to thank John Barker of Middle Tennessee Electric for his help and quick response to the situation.
More possible solutions of the crosswalk will be discussed at the next meeting of the Town of Woodbury Mayor and Board of Aldermen meeting January 7th.
