Local Man Again Finds Himself In Legal Trouble

A man who has been arrested numerous times in recent months on various charges once again finds himself in legal trouble.

Donald (Donnie) Wayne Smith, whose current address is listed as 3907 Dickens Hill Rd., Bradyville, was charged on Nov. 11 by Cannon County Sheriff's Deputy Randy Neal with aggravated domestic assault.

The latest incident occurred on George Scott Road. The victim told Deputy Neal that Smith ran over her right leg with his truck following an argument and that he was mad and had been drinking.

According to the victim, Smith left the scene when she called the law.

Deputy Neal and Sheriff Darrell Young began a search for Smith on Hollow Springs Rd. but were unable to locate him. Deputy Steve McMillen, meanwhile, was dispatched to 935 Simpson Rd. for a 911 hang up and saw Smith at this address and called Sheriff Young to the scene. Deputy Neal also went to that residence and saw Smith there.

He was placed in custody, transported to the CCSD, and served the warrant for aggravated domestic assault. He was also placed under a 12-hour hold.

Bond was set at $15,000. Initial court date is Dec. 14.

In August, Smith was charged with public intoxication and filing a false report. In September, he was charged with DUI, reckless endangerment and violation of the implied consent law.
