Lloyd Lee Whitfield

Lloyd Lee Whitfield, age 65, died Thursday, February 11, 2010, at his home in Readyville following an extended illness.

A native of Cannon County, Mr. Whitfield was a farmer, horse trainer, school bus driver and also worked at Samsonite.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 14, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Howard Knox, Jr. and Bro. Herb Alsup officiating. Burial will be in Curlee Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Mears Whitfield of Readyville; two children, Melissa Powell of Readyville and James Carl (Bobbi) Mears of Readyville; six grandchildren, Brittany Clark, Dillon Powell, Gabriella Powell, and Dustin, Anniee and Austin Mears, all of Readyville; father-in-law, James Basham of Woodbury; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford Thomas Whitfield and Willie Becton Young Whitfield; a brother, J.C. Whitfield; sisters Willie Estelle Davenport. Laura Whyte Rogers and Nina Elizabeth Thomas; and a niece, Becky Anne Rogers.
