Cannon County's boys basketball team will play a Region 4-AA first-round game at Chattanooga Notre Dame tonight at 6 (Central). With a win, the Lions would advance into the semifinals Tuesday at 6 p.m.

The Region 4-AA Boys Championship is set for Thursday 7 p.m. Semifinals and championship games of the Region 4-AA Boys and Girls Tournament are being held at White County High School in Sparta.

The No. 8-ranked Lionettes (26-7) secured a berth in the Region 4-AA semifinals against Grundy County Monday at 6 p.m., by virtue of their 73-44 win against Sequatchie County in the quarterfinals Friday.

A win against Grundy County not only assures the Lionettes a chance to defend their Region 4-AA championship, but also guarantees them a spot in Saturday's TSSAA State Sectional. Three of District 8-AA's four representatives in the region tournament advanced. No. 4 Livingston Academy and No. 5 Upperman also scored first-round wins.
