Lions Chop Down Forrest, Lionettes Sustain Second Setback

Cannon County's girls suffered only their second loss of the season Saturday, falling to Forrest 44-41.
The Lionettes fell behind early and were unable to recover. Forrest grabbed a 14-8 lead at the end of the first quarter and extended its advantage to 29-15 at the half.
Cannon County fought back to pull within three at the end of the third quarter, 34-31, but each team scored 10 points in the fourth quarter as the Lionettes saw their record fall to 21-2. Forrest improved to 22-4.

Cannon County's boys, meanwhile, bounced back from a loss to DeKalb County Friday to record a 58-49 win over Forrest.
The Lions grabbed a 14-8 lead after one quarter and maintained their advantage at the half, 28-25. Forrest kept the game close in the third, trailing 38-36 entering the final period, before the Lions pulled away in the fourth.

Cannon County will play host to Livingston Academy Tuesday night, Aaron Academy on Friday and Franklin next Saturday. Their games with Upperman, scheduled for Jan. 29 but canceled by weather, will be made up a week from Monday.
