There's a in season rivalry brewing between the Cannon County Lions and the Watertown Purple Tigers and tonight's consolation game of the boys District 8-AA tournament could be one of the best games of the entire tournament.
Both teams split during the regular season with both games going into overtime.
In Woodbury December 6th. Blake Bush hit a 60 foot shot at the buzzer to force the game into overtime where Cannon won 67-64.
Bush's seven points in the final quarter including clutch free throws sent the second contest in Watertown to the extra period as Watertown took that one 77-70 behind Rayquan Verge's 32 point effort.
Tonight's game kicks off the two game set at the Hooper Eblen Center at Tennessee Tech in Cookeville. The championship game of Upperman and York is afterwards. Live play by play of the game tonight will be on cannonsource.com and through Facebook using the Facebook Live on "Cannon Courier News and Events" Facebook Page with the tipoff starting at 6:00 p.m.

The girls first round of the region tournament has been set. Macon County won the District tournament beating Upperman 58-44. Both teams will host first round region tournament games Friday night when Marion County visits Lafayette and Bledsoe drives to Baxter.
Dekalb beat York in the consolation 39-38 setting up the visit Dekalb will have to make to Sequatchie County while Cumberland County welcomes a non district rival York Friday night.

The region tournament will consist of the four teams mentioned in District 8-AA in the boys division. The winner of the consolation game tonight between Watertown and Cannon will travel to Cumberland County Saturday night, while the loser will meet the number one seed Grundy County in Altamont. Grundy beat Cumberland for the championship 53-52 Monday night.
The winner of the championship game between Upperman and York tonight will host Sequatchie County Saturday while the loser also hosts the first round region tournament which will be against Bledsoe County.
