Cannon County’s Lionettes closed out the Mitch Wilson State Farm Thanksgiving Classic the way they started it: undefeated.

The Lionettes easily disposed of Summit, 59-29, to give them their third straight win against a Class AAA team. The Lionettes had previously beaten Lincoln County and Coffee County.

Abbey Sissom nearly outscored Summit’s team, pouring in a game-high 25 points. Madison Walkup was the only other Lionette to reach double figures with 10. Rebekah Faulkner scored nine and Kristen Hale finished with eight. Erik McReynolds, Macy Clements and Kelli Davis each scored two.

Cannon County established an early 15-8 first-quarter lead and blew the game open by halftime, leading 32-18.
They didn’t let up in the second half.

The Lionettes (7-0) have answered all challenges to start the sesaon but they face their toughest to date when Macon County comes calling for a District 8-AA opener Tuesday at Harris Gymnasium. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. Macon County was the Class AA state runner-up last season and was moved into District 8-AA this season.
