Lionettes Soccer Season Ends With Close Loss To Lady Owls

The Cannon County Lionettes Soccer team put up a competitive fight against the regular season District 8-AA champions the Smith County Lady Owls but for the third year in a row the Carthage team eliminated the Lionettes from the post season in a 2-0 win. Both teams exhibited a defensive battle in the two 40 minute periods at Watertown High School. Smith County scored both goals on breakaways with the first goal scored at the 20:38 mark and again at the 12 second mark in the first half. Cannon County finishes the season with a 4-9-2 record.
Smith County will move on to play York in the championship game Thursday night at 6:00 at Watertown High School. York knocked off Watertown 3-1 in the first semifinal Tuesday night.
