Ally Parton’s two-out RBI single scored Kristen Hale in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Cannon County to a come-from-behind, 4-3 win against rival DeKalb County at Cannon County High School Tuesday (April 23).
The Lionettes (13-10, 5-5) shocked DeKalb County (18-10, 8-3) by securing a rare softball win against them. Cannon County continued to play well at the most important time of the season.
Molly Williams led the Lionettes with a 4-for-4 performance. Parton and Macy Williams had two hits each.
Hale was dominating on the mound. She struck out nine and scattered four hits to earn the victory.
The Lionettes trailed 3-1 after two innings. DeKalb County scored one in the first and tacked on two in the second. Cannon County pulled to within one with a run in the third and tied the game in the fourth when Kelsie Smith delivered a one-out single and scored on Jessica Elmy’s two-out hit.
The score remained 3-3 until the bottom of the seven when Hale reached on a leadoff single and eventually came around to score on Parton’s RBI knock.
The Lionettes close the regular season with a home-and-home series against Livingston Academy Monday and Tuesday.
