TONY STINNETT, Courier Co-Editor

Emily Sissom appears to have found her way out a slow shooting start to the season.

The senior guard poured in five 3-pointers and scored a game-high 25 points to lead Cannon County to a 71-40 win against Columbia at Robert A. Harris Gymnasium Saturday night.

Surging Cannon County (11-1) won its fifth straight, remained undefeated (7-0) at home and improved to 6-0 against Class AAA competition.

Sissom was 5-of-9 from beyond the 3-point arc and had two long-range shots rim out. She connected for nine 3-pointers in back-to-back wins against Coffee County and Columbia, respectively.

Taylor King added 17 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field and added eight rebounds. Abby Jakes scored nine points on the strength of three 3-pointers and Abbey Sissom and Chelsey Payne finished with seven.
