Linda Chambers

Linda Chambers passed away Saturday, October 27, 2012.  Preceded in death by her parents, her uncles Hoyt and Boyce Hawkins, and her brother, Donald Hawkins.

Survived by her daughter Kelli Rhea Barber, son Daniel Everett Chambers IV, and brother Wayne Hawkins.  Linda Hawkins was a passionate Democrat born into a musical family in Nashville, TN on November 5, 1955.

She was the daughter of Charles Edward Hawkins and Clara Campbell Hawkins.  Linda was a student at Hillwood and Cohn High Schools, class of 1973.  She worked primarily in IT, and most recently was employed in HSN's customer service department.  She had a talent for fly fishing and loved driving in the mountains while listening to John Denver. During football season, she could make the best chili you ever ate.  She had a festive sense of style, always had beautiful nails, and loved every shade of red from chili pepper to merlot.

She loved to entertain, lie in the sun, work in her garden, and grew tomatoes and fresh herbs. Her nickname was Weather Channel Linda, and her weather rock was never far from her kitchen window.  She was a strong and sentimental woman who loved her children more than anything.

She will be cremated at Hillcrest Funeral Home in San Antonio, TX, where she had recently moved to be close to her son. A memorial is being planned for the spring of 2013 on the Caney Fork River.  In lieu of flowers, please send clothes and donations to your local battered women's shelter.
