Light snow accumulations possible late tonight

Rainfall will spread east today ahead of an approaching cold front. Rainfall totals around 1 to 1.5 inches will be possible today, which could cause rises in area creeks and rivers as well as minor flooding concerns in low lying areas. As the cold front enters the area later tonight temperatures will drop below freezing and rain will gradually transition to snow.

The main timing for snowfall will be after 8 p.m. west of I-65 and closer to midnight east of I-65. Moisture will be limited as this system pulls off to the east, and snowfall accumulations are expected to range from nothing in the southwest up to half an inch in the northeast on the Cumberland Plateau.

As temperatures fall into the twenties late tonight any wet roads may freeze, producing slick spots. This along with light snowfall amounts may produce slick spots during the morning commute Thursday. Use caution on backroads early in the morning. Temperatures are expected to rise into the 40s Thursday afternoon alleviating any travel impacts.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of Middle Tennessee.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

A Wind Advisory is in effect until this afternoon. Breezy south winds with gusts to around 40 mph are possible.

Rainfall totals of 1 to 1.5 inches will be possible today. Coupled with saturated grounds from last weekend`s rainfall, minor flooding issues may arise this afternoon. The main concern will be small creeks, streams, low lying areas and other flood prone locations.

Rain will change to a wintry mix Wednesday night. Any accumulations are expected to be minor, but some slick travel will be possible Wednesday night into Thursday morning as temperatures drop into the 20s.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday

Another round of light snow is expected Saturday evening. This could cause slick roads Saturday night and early Sunday morning.
