LETTER: Black bill would protect babies

Dear Editor,

On January 4th, 2013 Congresswoman Diane Black re-introduced legislation (H.R. 217) Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act which ensures that Title X family planning grants are used for their intended purpose and are prohibited from being used by organizations that provide abortions.

Planned Parenthood Federation of America (P.P.F.A.) recently released its latest annual report for 2011 / 2012 which revealed the following:

P.P.F.A. received a record $542 million dollars in taxpayer funding via government grants, contracts & Medicaid reimbursements for a total of 45% of their annual income.

P.P.F.A. performed a record high 333,964 abortions while cancer screening & prevention services dropped by 29%.

P.P.F.A. reported a total of 3 million clients which means 11% of those clients received an abortion.

Over the past three reported years P.P.F.A. has performed 995,687 abortions.

H.R. 217 will clarify the original intent and spirit of the law, so that Title X federally funded grants will no longer be awarded to Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in the United States, or any other organization that fails to protect life by providing abortions.

I urge everyone to call their representatives in Congress and the Senate and ask them to support this bill. I believe we have a moral duty to protect the life of an unborn child and I will leave you with something to think about.

Scientists & the government have spent gazillions of dollars trying to prove life exists on other planets. If an amoeba so small it would need a microscope to be seen were to be discovered it would hailed as the greatest scientific discovery of mankind. Yet, those same scientists & government politicians will argue that life does not exist or begin at conception. The hypocrisy knows no bounds.

Support H.R. 217!

Sincerely,

Corey Davenport
