GivingTuesday, started in 2012 by New York City cultural center 92nd Street Y in partnership with the United Nations Foundation, is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and celebrate generosity worldwide. The event is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and give back in meaningful ways to the charities and causes they support.
Legal Aid Society's annual Campaign for Equal Justice funds the organization's programs and advances access to justice for residents of 48 counties across Middle Tennessee and the Cumberland Plateau. The law firm is also participating in GivingTuesday to reach new donors and advance Legal Aid Society's profile.

"Initiatives like GivingTuesday offer Legal Aid Society the boost we need to provide legal services to Middle Tennesseans who cannot afford them. We're excited to take part in this year's GivingTuesday to make a greater impact on our community."
"We have been incredibly inspired by the generosity in time, efforts and ideas that have brought our concept for a worldwide movement into reality," said Henry Timms, founder of GivingTuesday and executive director of 92nd Street Y.
