Law Finally Catches Up With Young

A local man who eluded law enforcement once recently discovered he could not do so twice.

On Aug. 4, Cannon County Sheriff's Sgt. Randy Neal was doing patrol on Stones River Road when he noticed a gray colored truck coming toward him in the westbound lane. Sgt. Neal noticed Timmy Young was in the truck.

Sgt. Neal turned around and followed the truck, which soon turned into the address of 1300 Gassaway Road. As Sgt. Neal pulled in behind the truck, a passenger jumped out and ran into the woods behind the residence. Officers searched the area for that subject but were unable to locate him.

Sgt. Neal placed Young under arrest on an outstanding warrant.

Young, of 1164 Stones River Rd., Woodbury, was charged in the warrant with evading arrest with a motor vehicle on July 14 by Cannon County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike “Doc” Smith.

Young was the driver of a white Pontiac on Blue Hill Rd. on that date. Deputy Smith was traveling on Blue Hill Rd. when Young swerved into his lane, almost hitting his patrol car.

Deputy Smith turned around and pursued Young as he drove in a reckless manner into Warren County. Deputy Smith pursued the white Pontiac into Warren County, but was unable to make contact.

Bond was set at 8,000. Initial court date is Sept. 9.
