Judge Melton Receives Eight Guilty Pleas In General Sessions Court



Judge Susan Melton presided over Cannon County General Sessions Court on Tuesday, Feb. 1.

The results of the cases which appeared on the docket are as follows:

Beverly Adamson pled guilty to a charge of possession of Schedule IV drugs. She was given a suspended sentence of 11 months, 29 days and placed on probation for an equal amount of time. She was fined $750 and court costs and was ordered to receive random drug screens. Charges of possession of Schedule II drugs and possession of a Legend drug were dismissed without cost.

Joe Don Barrett pled guilty to driving without a license. He was given a 30-day suspended sentence and placed on probation for an equal amount of time. He was fined $2 and court costs. Charges of use of stolen plates and violation of the financial responsibility law were dismissed without cost.

Billy Joe Griffith pled guilty to a charge of simple possession of marijuana. He was given a suspended sentence of 11 months, 29 days and placed on probation for an equal amount of time. He received a $250 fine and was ordered to pay court costs. In addition, he will be subjected to random drug screens for a period of 90 days.

Johnny Michael Howard pled quilty to a charge of DUI (2nd offense). He was given a partially suspended sentence of 11 months, 29 days and placed on probation for an equal amount of time. He was ordered to serve 45 days in the county jail and given credit for 10 hours served. He was fined $600 and court costs, lost his driver's license for two years, and ordered to attend alcohol and drug counseling. A charge of driving on a revoked license was dismissed without cost.

Robert C. Williams pled quilty to a charge of DUI (2nd offense). He was given a partially suspended sentence of 11 months, 29 days and placed on probation for an equal amount of time. He was ordered to serve 45 days in the county jail. He was fined $600 and court costs, lost his driver's license for two years, and ordered to attend alcohol and drug counseling. A charge of violation of the implied consent law was dismissed without cost.

Justin Paul Hutchinson pled guilty to driving on a suspended license. He was given a six month suspended sentence and placed on probation for an equal amount of time. He was fined $50 and court costs. A charge of violation of the insurance law was dismissed without cost.

Jeremy Kenneth Leedom pled quilty to a charge of simple possession of Schedule II drugs. He was sentenced to six months in the county jail and must serve his entire sentence. That sentence will run consecutive to a sentence he is already serving. He was also fined $750 and ordered to pay court cost.

Brent M. Prewitt pled quilty to charges of failure to appear, show cause and violation of probation. On the VOP charge, his probation was revoked and he was ordered to serve 60 days in the county jail. He was given credit for 45 days served. He was given suspended sentences of 11 months, 29 days on the other two counts and placed on probation for an equal amount of time on each count. The probation period for failure to appear will run consecutive to the VOP charge, while for show cause it will run concurrent.

Thomas W. Reed had continued for 12 months a charge of domestic assault subject to good and lawful behavior.

Justin Aaron Taggart had continued for 12 months a charge of domestic assault subject to good and lawful behavior.

Travis Joe Davenport had his charges of underage consumption and violation of the open container law continued for 12 months subject to good and lawful behavior. He must attend 10 AA meetings and report to Providence probation. A charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor was dismissed.

Joe Don Fann had a charge of livestock running at large bound over to the May term of the grand jury.

Doyle Edwin Mooneyham, charged with theft of property, was dismissed without cost.

Jeffrey Michael Hodges had charges of driving on a suspended license dismissed without cost.

The following cases and charges were continued until a later date:

Harry W. Brandon: simple possession or casual exchange, possession of Scehedule II drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless endangerment.

Clifford Wayne Brothers: aggravated assault, resisting arrest, public intoxication.

Renee L. Chapdelaine: disorderly conduct, resisting stop, frisk, halt, arrest.

Michael Troy Cook: criminal trespass, evading arrest, use of off highway vehicle on highway.

Michelle Lee Culwell: driving on suspended (1st offense).

Kristy Dawn Hayes: domestic assault, disorderly conduct, public intoxication.

Amanda Rhea Hollis: DUI (2nd offense), simple possession of Schedule III drugs, violation of the financial responsibility law.

Phillip Lynn Holt: domestic assault.

Kim Johnson: harassment.

Thomas Keith McCullough: initiating the process to manufacture meth, manufacture of meth, maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of manufacturing meth, reckless endangerment, violation of probation.

Michael Edward Muncy: promotion of methamphetamine manufacture, introduction of contraband into a penal institution, possession of drug paraphernalia, seat belt violation.

Marlin Christopher Prater: driving on a revoked license.

Dallas Jay Rogers: driving on a suspended license.

Regina Ann Smith: simple possession, possession of drug paraphernalia.

Dustin Scott St. John: promotion of methamphetamine manufacture, criminal impersonation, evading arrest, simple possession of Schedule II drugs, seat belt violation.

Johnny Wade Stephens: DUI, violation of the implied consent law.

Mandi Dawn Sullivan: DUI, failure of obey traffic control device/signal.

Patsy Ann Whitaker: violation of probation (2nd offense).
