Mrs. Josephine Gunter Watkins, age 86, of Manchester, died Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at St. Thomas Hospital following a sudden illness.

She lived in Manchester but was born in the Short Mountain area of Cannon County.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Jo Ann and Maurice Gannon of Woodbury, one son and daughter in law, Tom H and Jane Watkins of Manchester, 4 grandchildren, Shane Gannon, Shannon Gannon, Nathan Watkins, and Jennifer Watkins Batchelor. One great grandson, Aaron R. Batchelor; A sister, Maggie Brown of Portland.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Jennie Blair Gunter; husband, Thomas L. Watkins and brothers, Abraham, Estes and Gray Gunter.

Also survived by one niece and several nephews.

She was a member of the Bible Methodist Church in Manchester and was a retired nursing tech.

Funeral will be at the Bible Methodist Church at 1024 Oakdale Street, Manchester, 2 p.m. Friday, October 23, 2009, with Dr. Jim Rolen, Bro. James McDonald, Bro. Walt Hedstrom and Pastor Tom H. Watkins officiating.

Interment will be in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Coffee County.

Visitation will be Wednesday, from 4:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Woodbury Funeral Home and Thursday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Bible Methodist Church.
