City Limit signs have always been something that intrigue me.  To some people the sign is a line that they should never cross; to others it's a line that says I dare you to be something more.  What I think the line really represents is our unique experience and education that helps define who we are, what we do and why we matter. What you do with that is up to you.  Come find out why I think your destiny has no city limits.

- Coach Micheal Burt

Perspective can be a powerful thing.  It can also be something that holds each of us back. After a state championship in athletics and helping companies throughout the United States win championships, Coach Micheal Burt doesn't think those from small towns have a talent problem, but more appropriately deemed a "confidence problem."

Growing up in Woodbury, TN, population 2,500 (inside the city limits), Burt has spent a decade connecting with over 125,000 people around the world with the simple idea that they can make the transition from where they are to where they want to be.

His sixth book due out January 16 titled Small Towns Big Dreams - Your Destiny has NO City Limits and his accompanying initiative is a firsthand account that begins with changing the mindset and confidence of each person in every small town across America.

While in the Smokey Mountains in the fall of 2008, Coach Burt rented the movie "The Bucket List." At the conclusion of the movie, at 2:30 in the morning Burt asked himself, "what is this movie trying to teach me?"

The idea initially was an evening of inspiration around Burt's foundational work This Ain't No Practice Life which combined music and a message with all of the proceeds going to local charities who are critical in helping people within these small towns.

But this wasn't the extent of Burt's vision. It was only the beginning.  It would take the coach / entrepreneur and host of "Change Your Life Radio" on FoxNews Radio WLAC in Nashville almost four years to write the book and come up with a real plan to help those in small towns do something big with their lives.  It is now a plan he's ready to share with the world and can be found within the pages of this book.

The book speaks to the mindset passed from generation to generation about the possibilities inside the city limits of a small town and the different roles that each of us play. From parents to teachers, to coaches, to those in the environment either encourage or suppress the mindset and dream of a young person – his message is that everyone plays a part.

The book also compares and contrasts what country music superstar Kenny Chesney did to go big time and looks at the commonalities with President Bill Clinton, Billionaire Oprah Winfrey, and Hall of Fame Coach Pat Summit. To combat this confidence issue and plant the seed of belief in everyone in the community Burt came up with "The Small Towns and Big Dreams Initiative."

Utilizing sponsors who understand the value of bringing the idea to the community, and believe in "rolling their sleeves up" to fight this challenge, Burt is setting out to go to work on the confidence of every person in the community around the principles in the book.

This is more than a book – it's a movement.

The tour includes Burt speaking to juniors and seniors in local high schools as part of their growth process by providing each student with a copy of the book as a blueprint to help them chase their dream. He also speaks to teachers as part of in-service training, coaches who impact the children in extra-curricular activities, and parents as the keynote speaker at one of the defining moments in a small town – high school graduation.

Burt also does a interactive Q and A sessions for the local chamber of commerce and one night of inspiration for the entire community with all proceeds going to local charities. The result is thousands of people in each community will hear ONE message of hope, confidence, and action from a coach who knows how to activate potential in people and has done it.

This is a holistic approach to attack the issues of confidence head on with a real plan and a real strategy to win a championship for themselves and their small town. Burt's goal is to increase the number of people in a small town who believe they can make difference by marrying their talent, passion and conscience with a need in the world only they can fulfill.

How can you help?

Burt is serious about instilling those in small towns the confidence they need to achieve their big dream. When asked about the movement Burt said, "It's one thing to know there is a problem in the world. It's another to create a real plan that attacks that problem. People in small towns have the talent, they just need the confidence and the belief and that's what this plan provides. One of my core principles is "We cannot give away what we don't possess." My goal is to go to work in each of these communities on the hearts and minds of EVERY person who will listen and who wants a bigger future. I'm looking for strategic partners in small towns across America who will fund the initiative and get serious about overcoming the limitations of the mind that those in small towns can't do something big with their lives. It's a myth I plan to dispel."
