James Wilburn Smithson, 81, died Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Stones River Hospital E/R. A native of Cannon County, he was preceded in death by his parents, Milton B. and Irene Williams Smithson and his sister, Vivian Patterson.

A member of the Iconium Church of Christ, he was retired from Community Care in Murfreesboro as an Assistant Administrator and head of maintenance.

Survivors include his daughter, Conchita (David) Watts of Readyville; a son, Mark (Katy) Smithson of Milton; two brothers, Hobert (Betty) Smithson of Paris, Illinois and Clyde Smithson of Woodbury; a sister, Meriam (Wiley) Smithson of Woodbury; four grandchildren, Jason (Candi) Watts, Amanda Smithson, Erica (Russell) Loftis and Bradley Smithson; six great grandchildren, Marshall Smithson, Stratton and ylan Watts, Branson and Braden Smithson and Alyssa Loftis.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 29 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Watts officiating. Burial was in Hopewell Cemetery in Coffee County.

Active pallbearers were Jason Watts, Bradley Smithson, Russell Loftis, Ken Smithson, Monty Patterson and Jonathan Glaviano.
