Jakes qualifies for regional

Cannon County sophomore standout Briar Jakes qualified for the Region 4-A/AA Golf Tournament after firing a team-best 86 at White Plains last week.

Jakes, who was one of the team’s most consistent players throughout the season, finished amongst the top five individuals not a qualifying team to become the first Lion to qualify for the region tournament since Justin Davenport in 2010. Hunter Vickers, Jacob Nave, Nick Vassar and Josh Ruehlen also participated for Cannon County. Macon County won the tournament.
